What they did
Barren into old age, she laughed at the promise of a son, yet God gave her Isaac when she was ninety.
Why it matters: the purpose of their role
God kept His promise through her to show that nothing is too hard for the LORD; she is honoured for her faith (Hebrews 11:11) and as a mother of the promised line.
Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised. Hebrews 11:11 (KJV)
